About SIMUN
The SICAS Model United Nations (SIMUN) has firmly established itself as a beacon of excellence in Lahore’s Model UN circuit. Facilitating fruitful discussion and debate has been its hallmark quality, truly epitomizing the essence of Model UN. Here, delegates dive into intense, solution-driven dialogues, tackling global crises from civil wars and famines to human rights violations and nuclear disarmament.
SIMUN VI has been six years in the making, and it would not be possible without the ardent support and work ethic of its Executive Council, Directorate, and the school administration. We hope to leave an indelible mark on Pakistan’s Model UN landscape, fostering a legacy of constructive debate and innovative problem-solving.
To ensure a productive and professional environment, SIMUN VI has established the following Code of Conduct:
All participants are required to treat one another with respect, courtesy, and professionalism at all times, regardless of differences in opinion, culture, nationality, religion, gender, race, or any other personal characteristic.
Discriminatory, offensive, or inappropriate behavior, language, or gestures, whether verbal, written, or physical, will not be tolerated. This includes harassment, bullying, or any conduct that creates an intimidating or hostile environment.
Delegates must respect the views and opinions of others and avoid interrupting or speaking over others during formal and informal discussions.
Delegates must familiarize themselves with and strictly adhere to the rules of procedure established by SIMUN VI. This includes understanding the format for debates, the proper use of parliamentary language, and the appropriate conduct for moderated and unmoderated caucuses.
Report any misconduct, including harassment or discrimination, to the organizing committee or event staff. All reports will be confidential and taken seriously.
Delegates are expected to maintain decorum at all times during sessions. This includes refraining from inappropriate comments, gestures, or actions that disrupt the flow of debate or offend other participants.
All participants must be punctual for all sessions, meetings, and events. Late arrivals may be refused entry or may not be allowed to participate in that session.
The dress code requires formal business attire. For men, this includes a suit, dress shirt, tie, and formal shoes. For women, this includes a suit, dress, and formal shoes. Delegates may also choose to wear traditional formal attire such as shalwar kameez. All attire must be professional and appropriate for the conference setting.
Delegates should refrain from using mobile phones, laptops, or any other electronic devices during sessions unless expressly permitted by the committee chair for research or note-taking purposes.
Smoking, vaping or use of any illegal substances is strictly prohibited at the conference venue and during all official events.
In case of any emergencies, participants should immediately notify a member of the organizing committee or venue staff.
Any participant found in violation of this Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including verbal warnings, removal from sessions, disqualification from awards, or expulsion from the conference without a refund.
As a school of repute, we place a strong emphasis on good behaviour and strict action against violations of the Code of Conduct. The Equity Policy applies to all participants at SIMUN, including delegates, dais members, faculty, and the SIMUN Directorate. The Policy will remain in effect throughout the three days of SIMUN. Non equitable behaviours include misunderstandings and actions not rooted in malice; the specifics of each case will determine action. Bullying, intimidation, harassment, sexual harassment, victimisation, vilification and acts against “protected attributes” will be severely punished.
The following are “protected attributes”:
Age
Disabilities
Institutional affiliation
Gender identity
Language proficiency
Political and religious beliefs
Socioeconomic status
Any other attribute where discrimination:
Causes disrepute
Violation of human dignity
Leads to a delegate’s discomfort and inability to enjoy their rights and privileges as in violations of the above attributes
If a delegate is determined to have violated the Equity Policy, they along with their school’s delegations will be expelled from the event and a letter of misconduct will be issued to the participating school. Other actions will be at the discretion of the Equity Officer.
SIMUN VI presents you with 7 committees ranging from specialized to ECOSOC & Regional Bodies to General Assembly Committees!
